General Usage Of The Social Networking Sites Essay
Table 8 until 16 show the results for the question concerning respondentsââ¬â¢ main purposes for using Facebook. Respondents were allowed to select more than one answer from the given list of answers in the survey. The most frequently chosen purpose was ââ¬Ëcommunicatingââ¬â¢ where 36 students answered they used Facebook for communicating purposes. 35 respondents chose entertainment, 32 responded to networking/ socializing, followed by sharing information (f= 24), work purposes (f= 20), information resources (f= 17), study (f= 3) and lastly meeting new people online with 2. Discussion In order to explore the first research question of this study, which is: What are the City, University of London undergraduatesââ¬â¢ general Facebook uses? participants were asked four questions regarding their general usage of the social networking site Facebook. Through analyzing the data collected from the questionnaire, the study found that most of students have the experience of using Facebook for more than three years. Based on the findings, this study also found out that a majority of students (97.8%) are using Facebook every single day and most of the students spend half an hour per day on the site. This shows how active the students are on Facebook as they are seen to be engaging with the social networking site everyday.
